SME finance at three-year low
The amount of small businesses using external finance is at its lowest level in three years, a survey suggests. And although seven in ten businesses applying for an overdraft or bank loan are accepted there is a “perception” that they’ll be turned down.
Thirty-nine per cent of the 5,000 Small and Medium-sized businesses questioned had used external finance in the first quarter of this year – the lowest level since the quarterly SME Finance Monitor began in early 2010, and down from 50% in the same period last year.

Business Development
We work with you on a strategy to develop your business
With our extensive experience of a wide range of businesses we are able to offer a three stage business development programme which will help get you and your business where you want it to be.
Stage 1 – STRATEGY
We work with you to develop an overall strategy for your business which will become the basis for the development of the business in the future. Your strategic plan will reflect your personal aspirations as well as taking into account the prospects for your market and your position in that market.
Stage 2 – ASSESSMENT
This involves an objective look at how your business is running at the moment. We help you produce a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) and assess your business systems and how people run them. Every business has systems (whether you are aware of them or not). Your business has systems for marketing, selling, people development, recruitment, production, product/service development, decision making, customer care and financial control. It is necessary to evaluate those systems and identify what needs to be changed so that the systems will support your strategic objectives.
Stage 3 – IMPLEMENTATION
Our role is that of facilitator. This is different from that of a consultant. We don’t have all the answers. But you do – even if you haven’t formulated them yet.
In fact, what we have is all the right questions. By asking the right questions and analysing the answers with you an implementation plan can be developed.
Having agreed on what needs to be done we coach you to ensure that words become actions and that actions result in success. Success in achieving the goals you set out at the beginning of the process.
